Job summary

Acadian Ambulance Service in Knoxville, Tennessee seeks a dedicated Emergency Medical Technician-Basic to provide pre-hospital life support and transport. You will follow local and state protocols, maintain CPR certification, drive equipment, document care, and coordinate with medical staff.

This role requires a high school diploma or GED, EMT-Basic certification, a valid driver’s license, and strong communication skills to work under pressure.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• National and/or state EMT-Basic certification required.
• Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
• Valid state driver's license and ability to drive large vehicles.
• Must read, write and communicate professionally with staff and managers.
• Familiarity with company protocols, procedures and safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Examine patient for signs and symptoms and assist medical personnel as needed.
• Administer basic life support before and during transport within licensure limits.
• Handle patient safely during loading, transport, and discharge.
• Transport patient to a medical facility and transfer information to receiving staff.
• Document patient condition and treatment in EMS run reports and maintain records.
• Conduct regular inventory and testing of equipment and ensure readiness.
• Maintain ambulance and equipment in service and report needed repairs.
• Operate ambulance safely following driving guidelines and FCC communications rules.
• Attend mandatory meetings and complete station duties as required.
• Precept new employees or EMT-Basic students if assigned.
