Jan-Care Ambulance is the largest ambulance provider in WV, also operating in Raleigh and Durham, NC. We are a privately owned, community-oriented company with a long history of success built on hard work and a dedication to excellence.

Position Overview: The primary goal of EMS is to provide safe, compassionate ambulance and medical transportation, respecting patients' dignity and ensuring community safety. Responsibilities include non-emergency patient transfers, community event standby, and emergency response to provide immediate care and transport within the scope of training and authorization.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Attend orientation, EMS operations, compliance, emergency vehicle operation training, maintain EMS certification, and other required programs.
  2. Provide out-of-hospital care and safe ambulance transport following statewide protocols and medical command instructions.
  3. Lift, carry, and balance a minimum of 12 Sibs alone and 250 LBS with assistance, over a distance of 10 feet.
  4. Hear, comprehend, and respond to spoken information from co-workers, patients, and other emergency personnel.
  5. Communicate effectively in person, via phone, and telecommunications, meeting vision requirements for vehicle operation.
  6. Read and understand written materials under stress; document patient information accurately.
  7. Perform manual dexterity tasks required for patient care, including bending, stooping, crawling, and walking on uneven surfaces.
  8. Inspect and maintain EMS equipment and vehicles, report needed repairs.
  9. Respond to emergency calls, assist other personnel, and perform station and vehicle maintenance.
  10. Participate in event standby operations and respond to hazardous material incidents, natural disasters, and catastrophic events.
  11. Understand stress management, body substance isolation, and patient privacy under HIPAA.
  12. Interact professionally with outside agencies and personnel, including medical, law enforcement, fire, and rescue teams.

Requirements:

  • Basic knowledge of EMS operations and equipment.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to various EMS methods and community layouts.
  • Skills in airway management, CPR, medication administration, and trauma care.

Working Environment/Conditions: EMS work is 24/7, in all weather conditions, requiring readiness to respond quickly and maintain safety and professionalism at all times.

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of required evaluations and certifications, including valid driver's license, background checks, and health vaccinations.
