Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must have a valid driving record or be approved by insurers.
• Must pass a criminal background check.
• Must pass a 10-panel drug screen.
• Current CPR certification required.
• Current Virginia EMT-Basic certification required or reciprocity eligibility.
• Must communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment.

Responsibilities

• Receive dispatch assignments, acknowledge calls, determine efficient routes, and operate vehicles safely.
• Arrive at scenes or facilities, perform an initial scene size-up, assess needs, and respond appropriately.
• Use body substance isolation precautions to protect patients, bystanders, and crew.
• Assess patients to determine illness or injury, provide Basic Life Support as directed.
• Perform EMT-Basic skills including airway management, ventilation, suction, CPR, and AED use.
• Provide prehospital care for trauma, shock, bleeding, immobilization, and splinting.
• Assist with medical emergencies including cardiac, respiratory, diabetic, allergic, and other conditions.
• Administer prescribed medications when appropriate and within protocol.
• Monitor and transport patients, communicate findings to receiving staff, and document care.
