Location: Empress - Poughkeepsie Location

This position is based out of the Empress (formerly EMStar) Poughkeepsie Location.

Hourly Wage: $20.00 an Hour

Summary

Providing both emergency and non-emergency transport of patients. Empress EMTs & Paramedics will collaborate with their supervisors, Municipal and County Fire, Police departments, other medical staff, patients, and families to provide high-quality patient care and customer service. Under the direction of the Operations Department, the EMT will perform or assist with various patient care activities in pre-hospital and hospital settings. The EMT is expected to provide supportive and definitive care to groups or individual patients during emergency responses and inter-facility transports.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care within established protocols and standards.
  • Accurately document all patient care and EMS responses.
  • Complete all required Empress and NYS paperwork.
  • Maintain all equipment, vehicles, supplies, logs, and records as directed.
  • Operate vehicles and equipment according to company policy.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and promote safety practices.
  • Report to work on time; shifts may exceed scheduled hours, including mandatory overtime.
  • Work various shifts as required.
  • Follow all policies and procedures.
  • Attend mandatory continuing education, updates, and meetings.
  • Adhere to uniform and equipment standards.
  • Assist in community public information and educational programs about EMS services.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Current NY State EMT-B certification and CPR certification.
  • Valid Driver’s License meeting company requirements.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment screening, including drug testing, background check, and physical agility test (CPAT).
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
Work Environment

Work involves outdoor and indoor environments with exposure to hazards, blood/body fluids, fumes, odors, and temperature changes. Work may involve noise, mechanical and electrical equipment, and confined spaces. Employees perform shift work in a mobile environment.

Physical Requirements

Regularly use hands, reach, talk, and hear. Frequently stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, and stoop. Must be able to lift up to 150 pounds unassisted and up to 300 pounds with assistance. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
