General Description

Performs responsible medical work at EMS or the Parish Prison, providing care, treatment, and transportation to patients in emergencies. Conducts physical examinations on prisoners and administers emergency medical treatment to inmates. Performs other related work as required.

Minimum Requirements

• Education and Experience: High school diploma, GED, HiSET, or equivalent, plus completion of an approved EMT Basic course.
• Substitutions: Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Certifications: Registration as an EMT Basic by the National Registry, and certification by Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals, Bureau of EMS.
