Job summary

Provides direct patient care, transports patients, and supports clinical staff in diagnostics and procedures. Requirements include IL EMT-B license, IL driver’s license, and AHA CPR certification.

Qualifications

• Current/valid State of Illinois licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B).
• A current/valid State of Illinois driver’s license.
• Possession of a current/valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support CPR Certification.

Responsibilities

• Direct Patient Care Tasks: assist nursing/medical staff with preliminary assessment, education, and documentation of patient condition; perform tests and CPR; relay information to clinical staff; transport patients; support patient/family coping; ensure patient rights and safety.
• Indirect Patient Care Tasks: collect and process patient specimens; perform quality controls and audits; maintain a clean, safe environment per infection control requirements.
• Organizational Tasks: support UI Health and Mile Square Health Center; resolve issues through established channels; participate in supply management and unit goals; ensure a safe, hazard-free environment.
