Job Description Summary

Under general supervision, and in accordance with Medical Control Board’s policy, procedure and protocol, performs specific tasks required for the effective and efficient care of patients in a pre-hospital setting and/or intra-facility transfers. Exhibits courteous and professional behavior while interacting with co-workers, patients, families, health care professionals, and public safety personnel. Promotes and maintains a smooth working relationship between management and employees. Operates and maintains company equipment in a safe and professional manner.

Competitive Pay And Benefits With The Following Shift Differentials
  • Monday-Thursday 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. $4.00 per hour
  • Friday, Saturday & Sunday 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. $5.00 per hour
  • Saturday & Sunday 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. $4.00 per hour
Advanced EMT Responsibilities

Provides appropriate patient care as defined by local protocols and the State Department of Public Services Guidelines including but not limited to endotracheal intubation and intravenous cannulation while assisting the attending paramedic with patient care. May attend on intra-facility transfers at the BLS level per local protocols. Must drive for ALL ALS transports unless municipal personnel are available to drive and assistance is required with patient care during transport. May assist with ALS procedures within the scope of their licensure as defined by ODPH and local protocols. Restock, reassemble, clean, and decontaminate the equipment and vehicle after every transport. Exception to this responsibility exists only when the Advanced EMT attends during patient transport.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Licensed as a Basic AEMT by the State of Ohio Division of Emergency Medical Services and maintained in good standing.
  • Must possess a current American Heart Association CPR certification and maintain in good standing.
  • Paramedic employees must also possess a current American Heart Association ACLS certification, maintained in good standing.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License in state of employ, and be eligible for driving privileges based on current policies and procedures.
  • Work requires comprehensive knowledge of emergency transportation procedures and a thorough understanding of their application in the medical transportation environment.
  • Work requires the skills necessary to quickly and safely transport patient using available resources, prioritize requests, and assists with patient care as directed.
  • Manages and copes effectively with stress related to the care of patients, families, and unpredictable situations within various care settings.
  • Work requires interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with internal and external personnel in stressful situations and to act as a representative of MedCare to the public.
  • Must be able to sit driving for long periods of time.
  • Must demonstrate alertness at all times.
  • Ability to assist in the loading and unloading of patients, on cots, up to 350+lbs. Pulling and pushing the cot in and out of the mode of transportation of the patient, maintaining the cot in a horizontal position.
  • Must be able to withstand high amounts of stress in uncontrolled environments.
  • Must maintain competency on assigned and alternate modes of transport.
