Job summary

AdventHealth in Palm Coast, FL is seeking an EMT/paramedic professional for 12-hour night rotations. You will support emergency transport, communicate with dispatch, and ensure patient documentation meets SOPs and regulatory timelines.

Must hold EMT credentials with BLS, a valid DL or CDL, and be capable of fast, accurate patient assessment and care in a high-stress environment while maintaining equipment and safety standards.

Qualifications

• EMT program graduate with state license and vehicle operation experience.
• Strong communication, documentation, and data interpretation skills.
• Proficient in basic computer skills and English written/spoken.
• Ability to analyze patient data and determine life-threatening conditions.

Responsibilities

• Communicates delays and updates to dispatch and reports any vehicle issues to the supervisor.
• Adheres to SOPs and ensures patient documentation is accurate and compliant.
• Communicates findings to nurses, paramedics, and team members.
• Assists with ventilator setup, cardiac monitor, IV lines, and pumps.
• Performs patient care documentation within state timelines (24 hrs).
• Assists with patient mobilization, transport, and equipment readiness.
• Operates emergency vehicles safely according to standards.
• Uses medical equipment and assesses injury/medical severity.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Description:

Shift: Pitman Rotation- 12 hours per shift, Night Shift 2000-0800

Communicates delays and updates to dispatch and reports any damage or vehicle issues to the supervisor immediately.

Adheres to department Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensures patient documentation is accurate, complete, and in compliance at all times.

Communicates findings and patient conditions to aligned registered nurses, paramedics, and personnel.

Assists crew with set up and preparation of ventilator, cardiac monitor, IV line, and pumps.

Responsible for charting documentation and patient care with BLS patients.

Provides receiving staff with a full patient report.

Monitors patient conditions and aggregates data.

Completes patient care record within state allotted time (24 hrs).

Assists with patient mobilization, ambulation, and transport.

Maintains equipment between transports and keeps the unit in a constant state of readiness.

Operates emergency vehicles safely in various weather and emergent conditions according to established safety standards.

Utilizes appropriate medical equipment and comprehends injury/medical severity.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to clearly communicate patient conditions, status, and arrival times with medical care facilities that receive patients [Required]


• Ability to analyze and assess data, techniques, methodology, equipment operations, and quality control to ensure that information is obtained and presented accurately [Required]


• Ability to determine life threatening conditions [Required]


• Provides appropriate emergency care and transports the patient, when necessary, [Required]


• Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English [Required]


• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office [Required]

Education:

• Associate [Preferred]

Field of Study:

• in a health-related field


• Graduated from an EMT program

Work Experience:

• 1+ year of experience emergency vehicle operations [Preferred]


• 2+ years of technical experience [Preferred]


• Ambulance transport experience [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]


• Emergency Medical Tech Cert (EMT) [Required] OR EMT-Advanced (EMT-A) [Required]


• Driver's License (DL) [Required] OR Commercial Driver's License (CDL) [Required]


• Commercial Emergency Vehicle Operator (CEVO) [Preferred] OR Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC) [Preferred]
