Description

EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN (EMT)

General Summary: The JBS Pork team is seeking an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). This role will be based in Louisville, KY. The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is a critical role on our Occupational Health team. The ideal candidate will be compassionate, very detail oriented, flexible, and thrive on supporting a busy, fast-paced work force.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate and quality care to employees
  • Respond to safety and health accidents or incidents as needed
  • Provide direct first aid to employees at the site according to the medical directive within the scope of practice and state and national regulations
  • Adhere to health management policies, protocols, medical directives, and physician standing orders; according to the scope of practice
  • Adhere to state and federal regulations including OSHA, Worker’s Compensations, etc.
  • Adheres to HIPPA compliance of confidentiality of employee’s personal medical information
  • Establishes and maintains a good working relationships with departmental staff, complex management, supervisory staff, and local health care providers
  • Lift, carry, and maneuver first aid response bag (25-30 lbs), back board, stretcher, AED, wheel chair, and any other medical necessities when responding to an incident
  • Maintains accurate documentation and assists in departmental records maintenance
  • Provide appropriate documentation of all care provided in a professional and effective manner
  • Administer, document, and track vaccinations
  • Perform Drug and Alcohol screening for potential new hires and Powered Industrial Truck operators (and as requested)
  • Conduct annual hearing testing for facility employees
  • Assist in conducting daily restrictive duty checks
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area
  • Notify Occupational Health Manager and designee of any pertinent physical and emotional changes of symptoms presented
  • Must be flexible with work schedule
  • Assist in the training of new employees, production, and maintenance at all levels in compliance programs
  • Help to perform job duties within the Safety and Occupational Health department as needed
  • Assist in special projects as needed within the department
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Degree / GED equivalency required
  • Current EMT certificate or equivalent (Paramedic, Intermediate, Basic) required in the state of application
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Must be able to carry, lift, and maneuver 25-30 lbs
  • Can perform the functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • Bilingual Preferred but not required
  • As a salaried position with the company, you may be required to travel at some point to other facilities, to attend Company events, or as a representative of the Company in other situations. The amount of travel may vary and the most qualified candidate must be willing and able to travel as business needs dictate.
