Job summary

Sunbelt Rentals is seeking an EMS Technician 2 in Texas to perform preventive maintenance and diagnostics on large diesel and earth-moving equipment, ensuring minimal downtime. You will work in a fast-paced field environment, performing inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs across various heavy equipment categories.

Responsibilities include mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel engine maintenance, fabricating parts as needed, and assisting other mechanics.

Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of mechanic experience with Earth Moving and similar diesel equipment.
  • High school diploma or GED required, some trade school or equivalent training desired.
  • May need to provide mechanic’s tools of the trade.
  • Excellent trouble-shooting skills
  • Ability to prioritize work assignments
  • Ability to work independently and be flexible regarding work assignments
  • Ability to be flexible with changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must possess a high degree of safety-awareness
  • Working knowledge of equipment design and safety requirements

Responsibilities

  • Performs check-ins and safety inspections on diesel and heavy equipment.

  • Fabricate parts and equipment, including torch cutting and arc welding, as required to meet shop and customer needs.
  • May diagnose simple mechanical equipment problems including large steel track undercarriage diagnosis and repair.
  • An understanding of safe rigging and lifting practices to perform large component removal and installation.
  • May work primarily on large or non-electric construction equipment.
  • Operate Equipment as needed for repair and loading/unloading
  • Maintain safe work environment and perform duties in accordance with safety standards.

Job Description Summary

Position Objective:

The EMS Technician 2 performs preventive maintenance and diagnosis of equipment for repair within the area of responsibility in the EMS specific categories as needed in the safest and most effective way possible to avoid down time. EMS specific categories include but are not limited to: large hydraulic excavators, 200+ HP crawler dozers, 25+ ton articulated haul trucks, 4+ yd. wheel loaders, motor graders, class 8 heavy duty on-road trucks, etc.

Education & Experience

Physical Demands

Must be able to bend, squat, crouch and/or reach and lift up to 50 pounds or more, as required by the job. Some Sunbelt jobs may require driving for long periods of time, loading and unloading heavy equipment, performing work in extreme weather conditions including rain, wind or excessive temperatures and/or night and weekend work. All duties must be performed according to Sunbelt’s safety policies and guidelines. Reasonable accommodations may be made to comply with ADA/ADAAA.

Base Pay Range: $24.05 - 33.06
