Job summary

Hennepin Healthcare has a current opening for an EMS Educator - Casual. This position will work rotating days and evenings.

Teach advanced and basic level emergency medical care courses for public safety personnel, paramedics, physicians, nurses, other healthcare professionals, and the public. Responsibilities include delivering courses, serving as an EMS resource, evaluating students, and coordinating with program staff.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or diploma from an accredited paramedic program or registered nursing program
  • Three (3) years of approved paramedic experience, OR three (3) years of EMS education teaching, OR three (3) years of approved critical care clinical experience OR three (3) years of approved nursing experience

Responsibilities

  • Teach advanced and basic level emergency medical care courses and individualized continuing education sessions for public safety personnel, paramedics, physicians, nurses, other healthcare professionals, and the public
  • Serve as a resource regarding emergency medical issues for public safety personnel, share emergency medical care expertise with public safety departments and other customer groups
  • Evaluate skills and abilities of students and provide feedback to the student and full-time program staff
  • Conduct learning needs assessment of students and customer groups
  • Assist with teaching plans and instructional strategies; incorporate distance learning technologies and other multimedia aids based on needs assessments, quality improvement, and curriculum requirements
  • Assist with teaching sessions using multimedia content and distance learning technologies
  • Arrange and maintain classrooms, clean, and maintain equipment and supplies
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in a health, business, or education area or an Associate's degree or a diploma from an accredited paramedic program or registered nursing program
  • Three (3) years of approved paramedic experience, OR three (3) years of EMS education teaching, OR three (3) years of approved critical care clinical experience OR three (3) years of approved nursing experience
Other Minimum Qualifications
  • An approved equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Current certification as a Paramedic with the State of Minnesota or current licensure as a Registered Nurse issued by the State of Minnesota OR current certification or licensure from the State of Minnesota in a health-related field that performs direct clinical care for critically ill patients
  • Must have a valid Class D Minnesota driver's license or equivalent and must have a satisfactory driving record including no more than 2 moving violations in the past 3 years of licensure
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in health, business, EMS, education, or nursing
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS instructor by the American Heart Association or approved equivalent
  • Current PHTLS and AMLS instructor certification by the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians
