Job summary

The UCLA Center for Prehospital Care at the David Geffen School of Medicine seeks a Paramedic Program Faculty member to join the EMS Education team in Los Angeles. You will deliver lectures, guide hands-on labs, and lead simulation-based learning across multiple programs, while advising students and developing curricula with EMS guidelines.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years EMS experience and 3+ years teaching, with strong communication and collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• Current licensure as Paramedic, Physician Assistant, RN or higher in CA (or ability to obtain)
• Ability to obtain Paramedic Accreditation in Los Angeles County
• Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent health-related education/experience (Masters preferred)
• Minimum 5 years EMS work experience
• Minimum 3 years teaching EMS or related field
• Experience coordinating, delivering and evaluating courses
• Knowledge of education theory and simulation for learning objectives
• Familiarity with distant education programs and technology (e.g., LMS) (preferred)
• Strong communication and instructional presentation skills
• Ability to work independently with attention to detail and follow-through
• Proven organizational and multi-tasking abilities
• Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork
• Flexibility to work days/evenings/weekends as schedule requires
• Ability to perform light to heavy lifting as required by lab activities

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging instruction across paramedic education programs (primary, hybrid, refresher, CE)
• Provide direct student support via coaching, remediation, and performance assessments
• Develop and deliver lectures and hands-on skills labs
• Incorporate simulation-based learning and assess student outcomes
• Contribute to curriculum development and lesson plan alignment with EMS guidelines
• Serve as academic advisor and participate in outreach events representing the program
• Collaborate with program directors, staff, and students to advance education initiatives
