Job summary

Pinellas County Government seeks a Director 1 (Director of EMS) to lead the EMS Division within the Department of Safety & Emergency Services. The role oversees ambulance service contracts, EMS-related services, and clinical/operational initiatives across Pinellas County.

The position requires strong leadership, budget oversight, and contract administration, ensuring compliance and high-quality EMS delivery countywide. On-site leadership in Largo, FL with CJIS background required.

Qualifications

• Eight years of professional experience with at least three years in management or supervisory roles.
• Bachelor's degree plus four years of progressive EMS/public safety admin experience.
• Master's degree plus two years of experience as described above.
• Equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience accepted.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and strategic direction for the EMS Division.
• Plan and supervise staff and performance evaluations; develop staff development plans.
• Oversee staff training, recruitment, assignment, and discipline as needed.
• Direct EMS performance contracts including ambulance service and medical direction agreements.
• Coordinate with OMD, contractors, and external health agencies for medical oversight.
• Develop annual work plans, monitor results, and report accomplishments to County leadership.
