FSCA is currently hiring an EMS Technician Level II. This is a mid-level Technician responsible for performing certified DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and follow-up repairs, light mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. The role may also include scheduled work on various customer fleets and emergency roadside service. Candidates should demonstrate creative problem-solving skills in emergency situations, self-management, decision-making ability, excellent customer service, attention to detail, and situational awareness. Flexibility in scheduling and the ability to operate effectively in emergencies are essential. The technician follows established procedures for repairs and maintenance, maintains safety practices, and documents work thoroughly. The EMS Technician II aims for excellence and quality in their work.

Duties

  • Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various truck equipment such as electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, power steering, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions, clutches, differentials, etc.
  • Participate in safety training and stay updated on safety protocols to promote a safety culture.
  • Document work according to company standards, upload pictures of work performed, parts used, and observations using company devices and proprietary applications like PRONTO.
  • Communicate with management, team members, and dispatch via Microsoft Office, email, or phone for approvals, purchase orders, and notes.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety, health, environmental policies, and federal regulations including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
  • Obtain parts from approved vendors for repairs.
  • Complete DOT forms and other documentation promptly.
  • Manage parts inventory and equipment on the service truck, perform periodic reconciliation.
  • Understand and evaluate technical information related to the job.
  • Prioritize tasks effectively and manage time efficiently.
  • Work independently, managing your daily schedule.
  • Interact with clients to assess needs, provide information, resolve problems, and meet expectations.
  • Follow company policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling systems, and more.
  • Consult with customers, dispatch, and sales team to understand vehicle issues and work scope.
  • Inspect and test equipment using diagnostic tools to identify malfunctions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED with 3 years’ experience in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or 5 years’ experience.
  • Own a set of hand tools necessary for the job.
  • Must pass DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and physical; a valid DOT medical card with more than four months remaining can substitute for a physical.
  • Must be at least 21 years old due to interstate commerce regulations.
  • Valid driver’s license, with a clean 3-year MVR review, and ability to maintain a Driver Qualification File.
