Job summary

Galveston County Health District seeks a Compliance Officer to lead EMS quality assurance and regulatory compliance for ambulance and transport services. You will oversee QA programs, documentation, HIPAA, and training initiatives to ensure high standards in patient care and operational performance.

Responsibilities include supervising QA staff, collaborating with EMS leadership, and supporting public health emergency response activities.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required; bachelor’s preferred.
• Current Texas Paramedic with 5+ years EMS operations experience and leadership
• Current Texas RN with 4+ years emergency care experience and active RN license
• Experience managing EMS QA program or coordinating EMS training programs
• EMS Instructor or Coordinator certification preferred
• Knowledge of EMS protocols, medical terminology, state laws, and quality improvement
• Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality
• Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
• Must meet immunization, background check, and drug/alcohol screening requirements

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement EMS quality assurance programs with EMS Medical Director and Chief of EMS
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, protocols, and patient care standards
• Monitor patient care reports and oversee documentation quality and HIPAA compliance
• Ensure medications, equipment, supplies, and personnel certifications remain current and compliant
• Investigate patient care complaints and report findings to EMS leadership
• Recommend and support training initiatives based on quality assurance findings
• Coordinate research projects and quality improvement activities
• Supervise the EMS Quality Assurance Analyst and assist with hiring, training, coaching, and performance management
• Approve timesheets, leave requests, and personnel forms
• Collaborate with EMS leadership to promote quality improvement and employee development
• Participate in public health emergency response activities and other duties as assigned
