Job summary

Priority Patient Transport is seeking an Ambulance and NEMT Billing Coding Specialist to support the revenue cycle for emergency and nonemergency medical transportation services. You will review transport documentation, verify patient and payer information, and prepare accurate claims for submission through follow-up.

Qualifications

• Two+ years in EMS, ambulance, NEMT, medical billing or related revenue-cycle function.
• Ability to read transport/clinical records and identify inconsistencies.
• Familiar with insurance verification, authorizations, payer portals and billing workflow.

Responsibilities

• Review transport records for completeness, accuracy, and medical-necessity support.
• Verify demographics, insurance eligibility, payer order, service level, mileage, and docs.
• Code and prepare claims per procedures and payer requirements (Medicare, Medicaid, commercial).
• Confirm presence of required documents (facesheets, certifications, signatures, logs).
• Identify gaps, place accounts in correct review status, request corrections.
• Review ePCRs for signatures, times, mileage, narratives, vitals, procedures, billing indicators.
• Follow correction/addendum procedures; escalate questions when unclear.
• Enter/import transports into billing platform; update claim statuses; submit claims.
• Track rejections/denials; research causes; route or fix as needed.
• Perform provider checks and maintain logs; help identify trends affecting clean claims.
• Provide documentation feedback and assist with training as requested.
• Protect PHI/PII per HIPAA and company policy; support cross-coverage.
