Qualifications

• Research and verify patient demographic and medical insurance information for accurate billing.
• Determine the primary, secondary, or other responsible party for each ambulance transport.
• Verify insurance eligibility and coverage through portals.
• Research account information using available resources.
• Maintain strong organizational, problem‑solving, and multitasking skills.

Responsibilities

• Receive and answer customer service inquiries related to ambulance billing.
• Investigate accounts using multiple resources in compliance with laws.
• Review confidential medical and credit information with appropriate safeguards.
• Review pre‑hospital care reports for billing accuracy.
• Enter patient, financial, diagnostic, and statistical data into billing systems.
• Determine order of responsible parties and bill according to CMS guidelines.
• Submit payer forms electronically and mail statements to expedite payment.
• Post and balance payments; process refunds and write‑offs with management approval.
• Handle denied claims and initiate appeal processes.
• Work aging reports to optimize cash flow and communicate with patients/payers.
