Overview
EMS Adjunct Instructor position located in Clackamas, OR. Per-diem, part-time opportunity. Salary range $30.00-$35.00/hr DOE.
Position summary includes instruction for identified courses, skill labs, patient care scenarios, and content delivery. Courses may include EMT, AEMT, Paramedic, and standardized courses (e.g., ACLS, PALS, PHTLS).
Responsibilities
- Ensure practice and theory align with current national standards and evidence-informed practice.
- Instruct and facilitate in skill labs and patient care scenarios using program-established teaching, evaluation, and testing tools.
- Maintain accurate documentation of student performance.
- Evaluate students across cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains and provide feedback as appropriate in coordination with the Lead Instructor.
- Present course content as mutually established with the Program Manager.
- Supervise students in clinical areas as scheduled with the Clinical Coordinator.
- Stay current with State and local EMS requirements, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain instructor status for standardized courses as mutually agreed.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships within the organization; use tact and problem-solving to address issues.
- Communicate concerns promptly and work with staff and students in a professional manner.
- Serve as a role model for students and maintain confidentiality of student information.
- Complete assignments to achieve productivity and efficiency; consider cost factors in duties.
- Assist staff with maintenance of program equipment and adapt to changing program needs.
- Demonstrate good judgment and the ability to deliver educational presentations applying adult learning principles.
- Communicate clearly in writing and verbally; collaborate with others as needed.
- Work independently and under pressure; perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years progressive experience in a field/clinical setting as a Paramedic.
- Experience as an adjunct instructor preferred.
- Associate degree preferred.
- Completion of an approved Instructor course preferred, per local authority requirements.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Ability to deliver educational presentations using adult learning principles; instructor of PALS or PEPP or EPC preferred.
Licensing/Registration/Certification
- NREMT preferred.
- AHA BLS Instructor preferred.
- AHA ACLS Instructor preferred.
- PHTLS or ITLS Instructor preferred.
- Oregon Paramedic license preferred.
Reporting Relationships
Reports to: EMS Program Manager. Interrelationships: Students, Staff.
