Lexington School District Four is seeking a Special Education Teacher to join our high-needs school in Lexington, VA. Position available January 2027.

The teacher will develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs), provide instruction, monitor progress, and collaborate with families and staff to support student growth. Qualifications include valid Special Education certification and eligibility for alternative certification paths.

Qualifications

• Valid SC Special Education teaching certification in designated area.
• Certification pending graduation.
• Certificate of Eligibility for Alternative Certification Pathway.

Responsibilities

• Provides research-based specialized instruction addressing goals within each student's IEP.
• Assesses student progress and adjusts instructional strategies as needed.
• Develops and implements annual IEP plans including present levels and services.
• Schedules team meetings and collaborates with staff to set instructional goals.
• Coordinates delivery of special education services per each student's IEP.
• Maintains classroom structure to foster student responsibility and respect.
• Acts as primary contact for parents regarding students' IEPs.
• Keeps records and prepares progress reports and enters grades in district software.
