Job summary

Laramie County School District #1 is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher for a full-time 185-day contract. The role focuses on facilitating student success in academic areas, developing lesson plans, and delivering instruction under established curricula.

The position collaborates with teachers, staff, and administrators to address instructional needs, monitors progress, and maintains compliance with state standards and IEP goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related area.
• Wyoming State Department of Education certificate, endorsement and Highly Qualified Status.
• Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance

Responsibilities

• Adapts classroom work to address individualized learning plans.
• Administers developmental testing and assessments to inform IEPs.
• Communicates progress to parents/guardians and coordinates with home environment.
• Collaborates with instructional staff and administrators to meet objectives.
• Directs student teachers, paraprofessionals, volunteers and student workers as needed.
• Instructs students to improve academic success through defined courses of study.
• Manages student behavior to ensure a safe learning environment.
• Monitors progress toward goals and adjusts instruction accordingly.
• Participates in IEP development and meetings.
• Maintains written records (grades, attendance, IEPs, evaluations).
• Responds to emergencies and inquiries from staff/parents.
