Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent shown by training/experience.
• Must meet paraprofessional requirements under No Child Left Behind.
• Associate degree or completion of 48 semester hours of college credits.
• Must obtain and maintain Crisis Intervention certification.
• Preschool assistants must have an associate's degree in Early Childhood Development.

Responsibilities

• Provides one-on-one academic assistance and may lead small group activities.
• Supports teacher with instruction and classroom routines.
• Maintains student records and progress; assists with clerical duties.
• Ensures safety and well-being of students; monitors behavior and helps with discipline as needed.
• Assists with crisis prevention and basic first aid/cpr as required.
