Marion Independent School District is hiring a Special Education Associate/Paraprofessional at Marion High School in Marion, Iowa. The role supports licensed staff in delivering program services to students with special needs and helps implement IEPs, accommodations, and instructional activities.

The paraprofessional works under the principal and roster teacher, assisting with academic, behavioral, and social-emotional programming, and may participate in district projects and staff development

Responsibilities

• Assists in providing academic, behavior management, crisis intervention and/or other educational service support.
• Assists in providing individual and/or group instruction under the direction of the classroom teacher.
• Helps implement, adapt or develop curriculum materials with the classroom teacher.
• Collaborates with the team to plan and implement educational and behavioral interventions.
• Completes clerical duties related to educational programming and attendance records.
• Supports supervision of children/students in playground, lunchroom, restrooms, halls, media center and other areas.
• Participates in projects or activities to support the special education program and school district.
• Engages in staff development and professional growth activities as requested.
• Maintains proper records and documentation per district policies.
• Supports implementation of accommodations and plans per students’ IEP.
