Job summary

Penns Valley Area School District is seeking a Para Educator for the 2026-2027 school year. The role supports certificated staff in providing instructional programs to students with disabilities or other eligible children, including one-to-one support and classroom management.

The position requires at least two years of postsecondary study or an associate degree (or higher), plus CPR/AED and First Aid certifications, and mandatory clearances.

Qualifications

• Associates or higher required; two years postsecondary study or an associate degree in any subject.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certifications must be current.
• Clearances: PA State Police, federal, and PA Child Abuse History checks.
• Board may consider alternatives deemed appropriate.
• Evidence of 20 hours of staff development each school year.

Responsibilities

• Escort students to and from class and other areas, providing support as needed.
• Assist the teacher with presentation of learning materials and activities.
• Provide one-to-one or small group instructional support to students.
• Tutor students to reinforce learning activities and objectives.
• Help students complete seat work and manage classroom tasks.
• Support personal needs of students including health and IEP goals as required.
• Operate classroom equipment and assist with instructional technology.
• Participate in in-service training and follow supervisor instructions.
