Job summary

Foundation for Blind Children in Phoenix, AZ seeks an Orientation and Mobility Specialist to provide direct and consultative O&M services within the Adult Comprehensive Day Program. The role spans campus, college, and employment sites to foster independent travel for clients with visual impairments.

You will assess referrals, teach mobility skills, and collaborate with the care team, VR counselors, and community partners, while maintaining records and supporting family involvement.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of adult-oriented O&M concepts and teaching techniques.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members.
• Ability to work independently in varied settings and document clearly.

Responsibilities

• Provide O&M services in the Adult Comprehensive Day Program and in college or employment settings.
• Evaluate referrals to determine appropriate O&M services for each client.
• Teach O&M skills including low vision, orientation, and use of mobility devices.
