Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required and Kentucky certificate
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, peers, and adults
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and community

Responsibilities

• Meet and instruct assigned classes using curriculum guides approved by the Board.
• Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to students' maturity and interests.
• Develop daily lesson plans and provide individualized or small-group instruction as needed.
• Translate lesson plans into learning experiences to maximize instructional time.
• Evaluate students' academic and social growth; maintain records and prepare progress reports.
• Communicate with parents through reports, notes, conferences, and other means.
• Assess learning needs regularly and involve district specialists as required.
• Maintain standards of pupil behavior consistent with the Student Code of Conduct.
• Protect students, equipment, materials and facilities; ensure safety.
• Create attractive displays and centers to enhance learning; maintain records and confidentiality.
• Maintain professional competence through ongoing in-service education.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop instructional programs including IEPs for special students.
• Assist in evaluating teacher performance under district guidelines.
• Requisition and maintain inventory records of books and materials.
• Supervise pupils during and outside classroom activities.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in committees and student activities.
• Stay informed about current literature, laws, policies and district procedures.
• Maintain grades in approved records; finalize at year-end.
• Plan and supervise assignments for aides and volunteers.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
