Job summary

Indian Prairie Community Unit School District is seeking an Early Childhood Special Education Teaching Assistant for a full-time 35-hour work week, starting August 2026. You will support students to participate in learning and help meet IEP objectives under licensed teachers and therapists.

Responsibilities include implementing instructional plans, administering tests, assisting with daily living skills, and documenting student progress.

Qualifications

Valid Educator License with Stipulations (PARA) or Professional Educator License.
Experience with special education students preferred.

Responsibilities

Implement instructional plans as determined by licensed teachers and therapists.
Apply lesson modifications to meet learning objectives and keep students on task.
Administer curriculum-based tests/quizzes.
Ensure students record assignments and have correct materials.
Take notes of curriculum presented for student needs.
Provide physical care and assist with daily living skills as needed.
Observe and reinforce appropriate student behaviors; communicate progress.
Participate in weekly team meetings to review progress and plan lessons.
Assist with non-instructional activities and maintain safety in facilities.
Escort students to buses/cars at start/end of day and record progress toward IEP goals.
