Job summary

Conejo Valley Unified School District seeks a paraeducator-classroom assistant to support certificated teachers in regular classrooms. You will work with students in small groups or one-on-one, reinforce learning activities, and assist with scoring tests and preparing instructional materials.

Incumbents monitor student behavior using positive reinforcement, maintain confidential records, and help set up instructional areas and AV equipment.

Qualifications

• Basic needs, characteristics and behavior of children and adolescents.
• Correct English usage, spelling, vocabulary, syntax, grammar and punctuation.
• Basic arithmetical concepts.
• Routine record keeping.

Responsibilities

• In regular classrooms, work with students in small groups or one-on-one to reinforce learning activities.
• Assist in lesson plan preparation, scoring papers and administering tests under teacher direction.
• Model and reinforce appropriate student behavior using positive techniques.
• Confer with teachers on student progress and adapt materials to meet needs.
• Perform clerical duties such as filing, recording grades, and maintaining student records.
• Set up instructional areas and AV equipment; support use of media and software.
• Participate in staff meetings and professional development as assigned.
