Job summary

CHATFIELD PUBLIC SCHOOLS is seeking an Elementary Classroom Teacher to teach 5th Grade Science. Under the principal’s supervision, the teacher will implement district approved curriculum and document student progress, creating a safe, flexible learning environment to support academic and interpersonal growth.

Responsibilities include developing lesson plans, ongoing assessment, communication with parents, and collaboration with colleagues.

Qualifications

• Certification/License: State of Minnesota Certification as an Elementary Teacher
• Certification/License: State of Minnesota Certification in the appropriate grade level preferred
• Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy
• Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and concepts
• Knowledge of data information systems and data analysis
• Knowledge of applicable laws regarding education
• Ability to use computer networks and software
• Ability to organize and coordinate work
• Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents
• Ability to engage in self-evaluation and professional growth
• Ability to establish cooperative working relationships

Responsibilities

• Develops and administers elementary curriculum aligned with district goals.
• Creates a safe, conducive environment for individualized and small group instruction.
• Develops lesson plans and translates plans into learning experiences.
• Conducts ongoing assessment and modifies instruction for individual needs.
• Instructs students in responsible citizenship and other subject matters as required.
• Attends seminars or professional meetings and conducts research to stay current.
• Keeps accurate records of grading and attendance per district procedures.
• Encourages parental involvement and communicates with families.
• Maintains classroom behavior standards and coordinates with staff.
• Selects and inventories instructional materials and supervises school-related activities.
• Administers standardized tests per district programs.

Education

Bachelor's in Elementary Education

Masters degree preferred
