The Employment Specialist IPS is responsible for developing employer partnerships to identify job opportunities, market skills and strengths of job seekers, address employer needs, and organizational cultures to assist individuals in reaching their goal of community employment.
RESPONSIBILITY LEVEL
Implements strategies to achieve organizational goals. Sustains policies, procedures, and programs. Typically works on projects and tasks spanning 3 - 12 months.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
- Project and Change Management: Plans and manages work to complete routine responsibilities and special assignments. Serves as team member or subject matter expert on projects. Communicates effectively about change, follows through on learning and skill-building, and adapts to change.
- Problem Solving: Uses skills to solve routine problems, identify root causes, interpret data, and resolve issues under general supervision.
- Technical Skills: Possesses fundamental knowledge of professional principles and works in compliance with established procedures.
- Community Engagement: Acts as an ambassador for Goodwill, participating in volunteer opportunities as schedules permit.
- Employer Partnerships: Develops employer partnerships to identify and customize job opportunities, acts as liaison with employers and agencies, and collaborates across Goodwill units to develop job leads and cross-sell services.
- Caseload Management: Organizes and manages weekly activities for a caseload of 20-30 individuals, providing placement, support, and retention services.
- Record Keeping: Maintains all necessary records, including progress reports and detailed client entries.
- Counseling and Guidance: Provides counseling on career exploration, advocacy, personal grooming, financial literacy, job seeking skills, problem-solving, and community resources, functioning as a case manager.
- On-the-Job Support: Assists newly employed individuals with orientation, provides on-the-job training, coaching, and employment support services to ensure successful retention.
- Job Retention Services: Offers systematic instruction to address problematic behaviors or work conditions, developing plans to improve on-the-job performance.
- Educational Support: Provides educational and supportive techniques to individuals, families, referral sources, and employers.
- Relationships and Outreach: Builds and maintains professional relationships with referral and funding sources, promotes Goodwill programs, and participates in community outreach events.
- Employer Support: Provides ongoing training and support to employers, maintains a safe work environment, and completes other assigned duties.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree required, with at least 1 year of experience.
- Valid Wisconsin Driver's license, vehicle, and insurance coverage.
- Effective computer skills for reporting, communication, and information management.

PHYSICAL/SENSORY DEMANDS
