Employment Specialist (3rd Shift)

Location: Peoria, Illinois

Position Summary

The Employment Specialist works to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the families being served by the National Youth Advocate Program by working closely with adults-in-residence to provide advocacy and support towards targeted goals.

Hours: Weekends only - Saturday and Sunday 11pm - 7am

Compensation: $19 hourly

Responsibilities

The Employment Specialist will perform duties including, but not limited to:

  • Perform all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Program’s mission, values, and philosophies.
  • Monitor the transitional home for safety risks and document any identified risks.
  • Perform house rounds within the home to ensure individuals safety within the transitional home.
  • Complete all relevant training on a timely basis as required by state, contract, and/or licensing agency standards.
  • Complete all required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Maintain client contact as required by program expectations.
  • Actively and directly engage with the individual to meet service needs and goals/objectives of the treatment/service plan.
  • Interact with the individual to develop a trusting, supportive relationship while assisting the individual in achieving identified goals.
  • Monitor the house security system and ensure the system is working optimally. This includes changing camera batteries, which may involve use of a ladder.
  • Actively document any incidents that happened throughout the shift and communicating with team members on the next shift.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Working, reliable telephone.
  • Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smart phones and tablets, printers, fax machines and photocopiers as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.

Other Skills

  • Experience working directly with individuals with mental illness preferred.
  • Works well independently and as a team member.
  • Multi-task efficiently and be flexible in all situations.
  • Openness to traveling as needed.

Driving And Vehicle Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Reliable personal transportation
  • Good driving record
  • Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,00/$300,000 bodily injury liability
