Ogletree Deakins in Salt Lake City is seeking an experienced litigation attorney to join our Employment Law Practice as Employment Counsel. You will counsel clients on employment-law matters, take and defend depositions, perform research, draft memoranda, motions and pleadings, and lead discovery-related activities.

The ideal candidate has a JD, Utah license, 7+ years of employment defense experience, and strong written and oral communication, with superb organizational and interpersonal skills

• Juris Doctor required and must be licensed in Utah in good standing.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal abilities.

Position Summary

Our Salt Lake City office has an opportunity for an experienced litigation attorney to join the firm’s expanding Employment Law Practice. The Employment Counsel will be expected to perform all the duties of a traditional law firm attorney, with an emphasis on counseling clients on employment-law-related matters. Duties include, but are not limited to, taking and defending depositions, performing legal research, drafting of legal memoranda, motions, and pleadings, attending court conferences, leading discovery-related activities and investigations, drafting of position statements and dispositive motions, and counseling clients on employment-law-related matters. The right candidate will have a passion for employment law, strong analytical and writing skills, and will add their enthusiasm to our affable, team-oriented environment.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor. Qualified candidates must be and remain licensed to practice law in Utah and in good standing in Utah. During employment, must meet requirements for continuing licensure for law practice.
• 7+ years of Employment Litigation Defense experience is preferred.
• Superior written and oral communication skills.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
