A state employment agency in Kanawha County seeks an experienced Employment Programs Interviewer. You will utilize superior customer service to explain program benefits, verify eligibility for various programs, and perform data entry tasks. Required qualifications include a high school diploma and two years of relevant employment experience. Preference will be given to applicants with previous experience at the agency. This position requires strong communication and data management skills.
Employment Programs Interviewer 1 – Kanawha County
At WorkForce WV, this position is in the Field Operations unit located at the WV Jobs Connect Center located in Kanawha City. Under general supervision, utilize superior customer service skills to explain program benefits and requirements. Interviews customers to obtain, interpret, and verify information to determine eligibility for various federal and state programs. Provides program and referral information to employers, individuals, and other community entities in one-on-one and groups settings to determine and refer to appropriate services. Utilizes the ability to control an interview to gather and interpret information from verbal and/or written discussions with a variety of customers (employers, individuals, other entitles). Utilizes standard program forms to determine appropriate program enrollment and facilitate ongoing process with customer. Know and utilize federal, state, and local programs including but not limited to new and continued unemployment claims, labor exchange services, veteran assessments, and job referrals, and refer to training opportunities. Uses good verbal skills, written communication, and listening skills to answer multi-line phones, work fast-paced reception points (triage and referral), receive/send written communication to learn, stay updated, and direct customers to appropriate American Job Center partner services. Apply information processing skills to do file searches for job matching and referral, claims identification, issue identification, fraud/overpayment detection, determination of appropriate industry codes for reporting in the state Management Information System (MIS) database. Performs data entry through a variety of internet and computer-based applications which include new claims, continued initial claims, payables, various individual and employer demographics, fact-finding statements, job orders, appeals requests, wage requests, employer verifications, and other individual program entry requirements. Uses ability to anticipate the need for further information and/or discovery. Uses superior computer and data management skills to assist customers through technological devices using e-mail, communicator, mainframe, internet, Webinar, and WorkForce WV databases. Shift work required. May perform other duties as assigned.

Training: High school diploma or the equivalent.
AND
Experience: Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid employment.
OR
Substitution: Successful full-time or equivalent part-time study from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the required experience at a rate of thirty (30) semester hours for every one (1) year of required experience on a year-for-year basis. Vocational school training may be substituted for the required experience at a rate of 1080 clock hours for every one (1) year of required experience on a year-for-year basis.
