PURPOSE OF POSITION

Reporting to the Employment Services Manager, the Employment Partnership Placement Specialist assists youth in assessing their job skills for employment opportunities, instructs program participants in job seeking, application procedures, resume writing, interview preparation, and job retention skills and attitudes. S/he arranges for interviews, monitors participant performance on the job and counsels’ participants when job performance is not satisfactory. The ideal candidate works with individuals to improve job performance and gain necessary job skills or reviews other employment options, maintains contact with employers during the youths' employment, and reports results to appropriate staff, tracks activity and progress data.

Duties And Responsibilities

(Responsibilities to include but not limited to the following)

General Duties And Responsibilities Include

  • Initiate and maintain ongoing personal contacts with a variety of business and industry representatives and job placement/training agencies to promote programs for participant placement.
  • Make cold calls to potential employers and explain the benefits and employment support services provided by CovWorks to employers, including addressing employer’s special needs.
  • Matches job skills with applicant qualifications.
  • Refers qualified youth to employers and conducts necessary follow-up when applicants are placed in positions.
  • Generate reports as required by the Program Manager

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Display the ability to communicate with others effectively, listen closely, and convey points clearly.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Some college preferred.
  • Experience with working with special populations.
  • Experience working in a job developing setting.
  • Must have up-to-date job bank.
  • Must possess complete knowledge of general computer, fax, copier, scanner, and telephone.
  • Must be knowledgeable of multiple software programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, and the internet.
  • Possess the ability to adjust to constantly changing workloads and is able to prioritize duties The ideal candidate must be comfortable using online social media networks and online broadcasting (meeting) applications such as zoom, or Webex.
  • Bi-lingual [English/Spanish] a plus.
