We're looking for an experienced Employment Litigation Attorney who knows how to move cases forward, confidently handle depositions and motion practice, and build strong litigation strategies while making effective use of technology and team resources. This role is ideal for an attorney who takes ownership of their work, values accountability, and believes excellent client service starts with excellent organization.

Based in Pasadena, California, this position offers a hybrid work arrangement, with remote work considered for the right candidate. For attorneys working from the office, regular in-person attendance is expected.

What You'll Do

• Manage Employment Litigation Matters: Oversee employment litigation cases from initial assessment through resolution, developing practical strategies aligned with client objectives.
• Lead Discovery and Depositions: Prepare for, take, and defend depositions while managing discovery and building a strong evidentiary record.
• Handle Motion Practice: Draft and argue substantive motions, develop persuasive legal arguments, and represent clients effectively in court proceedings.
• Drive Case Strategy: Evaluate legal issues, assess risks, identify opportunities, and pursue favorable outcomes through efficient and strategic litigation.
• Maintain Organized Case Files: Follow established firm processes for case workup, documentation, deadlines, and case management to ensure every matter is handled thoroughly and consistently.
• Leverage Team Resources: Delegate appropriate tasks to paralegals and support staff, providing clear direction and oversight while focusing attorney time on high-value legal work.
• Use Technology Responsibly: Apply legal technology and appropriate tools to improve productivity, streamline workflows, and support quality legal work while safeguarding client confidentiality.
• Communicate with Clients: Provide clear, timely updates and practical legal guidance, helping clients understand their options, case progress, and anticipated next steps.
• Manage Workload Effectively: Balance competing priorities, anticipate deadlines, and maintain steady case progress through proactive planning and communication.

What We're Looking For

• Significant hands-on experience as an employment litigator is essential.
• Demonstrated experience taking and defending depositions.
• Strong motion practice experience, including drafting substantive motions and presenting oral arguments.
• A consistent track record of following established processes to ensure thorough case preparation, organized files, and effective litigation management.
• The ability to delegate effectively, collaborate with staff, and use technology responsibly to maximize productivity.
• Excellent legal writing, analytical, negotiation, and oral advocacy skills.
• Strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple litigation matters independently.
• A proactive, accountable approach to client service, deadlines, and professional responsibilities.
• An active license and good standing with the State Bar of California.

Compensation and Benefits

• Starting salary of $100,000 per year, with flexibility to offer more based on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated capabilities.
• Paid time off: 15 days annually, in addition to applicable California-required leaves and other legally mandated protections.
• Firm holidays: The office is closed, and employees are not expected to work, on designated firm holidays, including New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day.
• Continuing Legal Education: Firm-paid CLE courses to support ongoing professional development.
• Parking assistance: Potential parking support for attorneys working from the Pasadena office.
• Work arrangement flexibility: Hybrid or remote arrangements may be considered based on the candidate's experience, the firm's needs, and the requirements of the position.

Schedule and Work Environment

The firm's regular working hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Litigation can occasionally require additional hours to meet deadlines or address urgent case developments. However, the firm is committed to maintaining a sane, predictable, and sustainable schedule whenever possible.

The goal is to achieve excellent results without creating unnecessary urgency or disorganization. Clear processes, proactive planning, thoughtful delegation, and effective use of technology are central to how the firm operates.
