THE FIRM

A leading Thames Valley firm.

THE ROLE

The Employment team is looking to recruit a lawyer with 2-5 PQE on a 12-month fixed-term contract as maternity cover.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a broad range of clients, including local, national, and international entities. Given the structure of the team, there will be genuine opportunities for progression over time.

THE CANDIDATE

Qualified in the UK with experience in Corporate support.

  • A broad understanding of relevant legal principles and experience in assisting with a desire to become an expert in this challenging field.
  • Excellent drafting, legal analysis, verbal and written communication skills, and knowledge of employment law.
  • An ability and willingness to engage in marketing and business development activities.
  • Experience in training seminars and workshop programmes for employers is advantageous.

Work responsibilities include:

  • Providing HR support to employer clients on a day-to-day basis.
  • Guiding clients through disciplinary procedures and internal proceedings.
  • Handling TUPE issues in transactional work, including due diligence and outsourcing.
  • Managing employment terminations, including settlement agreements and associated taxation implications.
  • Advocacy before employment tribunals and courts.
  • Litigating unfair and wrongful dismissal claims and discrimination claims based on sex, race, and disability.
  • Participating in training seminars and workshops for employer clients.
  • Opportunity to gain experience in immigration and data protection matters.
