Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services seeks an Employment Counsel in the New York City area with 5+ years in employment law and litigation. This office-based role requires proximity to either New York, NY or Edison, NJ and mandatorily being present in the office five days a week.

The attorney will provide day-to-day employment law counsel, collaborate with HR on investigations and employee relations, draft and review termination releases, and supervise outside counsel as needed in a fast-paced corporate

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience focused on employment law and litigation.
• Law degree from a top-tier law school and US bar admission.
• Ability to work proactively and reliably under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Office-based role in New York/NJ; not a work-from-home position.

Job Description

Company seeks an employment law attorney with experience in litigating and advising on domestic employment law issues.

Responsibilities:

• Provide day-to-day proactive employment law advice, assistance and counseling
• Work with HR to help manage and respond to employee relations issues, investigations and grievances
• Create, customize and update release agreements for terminating employees
• Review disciplinary actions and terminations with HR
• Assist in managing responses to subpoenas and document requests
• Recommend, implement and continuously improve employment law related trainingl
• Respond to administrative complaints and Department of Labor investigations
• Maintain employment law files and databases
• Respond to EEOC complaints
• Assist with employment law litigation matters
• Provide guidance to the other employment counsel and develop strategy of the employment practice.
• Manage and supervise outside counsel, as required

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience focused on employment law and litigation, preferably with some experience in-house.
• A law degree from a top tier law school and be in good standing to practice in any state in the United States.
• Strong analytical capabilities and judgment.
• Ability to work proactively, independently and reliably under tight timeframes in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team as well as cross-functionally across teams.
• Willingness to tackle matters outside area of expertise.
• Interact with HR teams and other legal team members (hence this is an office role and not a work from home role)
