Job summary

The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region seeks an Employment Coach to provide community-based support to youth and adults pursuing vocational skills and job independence.

You will assist with education, training, job search/placement and coaching under the Division of Rehabilitation Services framework, serving Harford, Cecil and Baltimore counties with flexible hours and a commitment to the mission of The Arc NCR.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Para-educator or associates degree in Vocational Rehabilitation, Human Services, Human Resources, Marketing and Sales, or related field preferred.
• One to three years of experience working with people with differing abilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide preparation, education, training, job search/placement and coaching support.
• Coordinate with DORS in a manner consistent with The Arc NCR’s mission.

Position SummaryThe Employment Coach will provide community- based assistance to youth and adults seeking vocational skills and independence through employment of various places of employment in various industries.Job DescriptionThe Employment Coach’s primary role shall include preparation, education, training, job search/placement and coaching support authorized by the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS) in a manner consistent with supporting The Arc NCR’s mission statement.Primarily location for this position – Harford County, Cecil County and Baltimore CountySchedule: Monday - Friday 4 pm - 9 pmEssential Skills and Core CompetenciesThe ideal candidate for this position will possess the following:Ability to support people with cognitive, learning, physical, and behavioral diagnosis.Effective oral and written communication skills.Ability to effectively advocate with employers.Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively to meet all necessary deadlines.Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.Flexibility to meet the needs of the program and adjust hours as needed.Adaptability to work in a variety of environments.Willingness to learn and the ability to take direction.Active listening and keen observational skills requiredAbility to work autonomously in a community-based environment with support and direction from program supervisor.Ability to work with high school students as well as adults.Ability to adapt style to serve the varying needs of the individuals supported within the program.Ability to represent the mission, vision, and values of the Arc Northern Chesapeake in a professional manner while working with individuals, families and various agencies and employers.Education, Training and Experience:High school diploma required. Para-educator or associates degree in Vocational Rehabilitation, Human Services, Human Resources, Marketing and Sales, or related field preferred.One to three (1-3) years of experience working with people with differing abilities preferred.Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).Working knowledge of multiple modes of job search platforms.Working knowledge of reasonable accommodations and ADA laws.sical Demands and Work Environment:Required physical expectations:Ability to tolerate extreme temperatures as needed.Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 70 pounds as needed (with or without assistance).Ability to stand for up to 8 hours when needed.Ability to walk a specific distance as needed.Ability to sit for up to 8 hours as needed.Ability to verbally provide instructions, prompting and feedback.Ability to repetitively stoop, crouch or kneel to model and teach tasks as needed.Ability to climb as needed.Ability to use hands to carry and handle tools/equipment as needed (as may be required by companies where supported individuals are employed for the purposes of job coaching).Ability to reach overhead with arms and hands as needed (as may be required by companies where supported individuals are employed for the purposes of job coaching).Ability to hear (with or without devices)Ability to see (with or without corrective lens)Additional Requirements:Access to reliable transportation for the entire shift.Active valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and no more than two (2) points.Maintain proof of current automobile insurance.Maintenance of all required training under DDA and DORS guidelines and The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region policies and procedures.Flexibility of scheduling to meet agency and program needs.
