General Summary:

Qualcomm seeks an employment law/human resources attorney to join its in-house legal team supporting Qualcomm’s global Human Resources department. The successful candidate will focus primarily on advice and counseling, including matters related to equal employment opportunity (e.g., discrimination, harassment, etc.); disability accommodations; employment terminations; employee discipline; leaves of absence; wage and hour claims; and employment-related litigation or administrative claims.

Additionally, the attorney in this role will advise the Company’s human resource clients on relevant legal and regulatory risks, employment related policies/procedures and communications. We are looking for candidates with broad legal experience spanning domestic and international employment/HR matters, litigation, and acquisitions. The successful candidate will serve as a legal resource on employment-related matters, while advising clients on legal risks, process issues, strategies, and developing solutions across various departments in the company.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide legal advice, counsel, and guidance to Qualcomm’s in-house human resource organization, including risk mitigation related to employee communications, policies, training, annual review process, compensation and benefits, talent acquisition, and employee relations.
  • Assist in domestic and international company employment matters as needed, including works councils and acquisitions.
  • Assist, direct and manage Qualcomm’s global employment litigation matters, including working with and managing outside counsel within budget.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Juris Doctorate degree or international equivalent.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience as counsel at a law firm or in-house.
  • Active bar license or other lawful ability to practice law in the state or jurisdiction where the employee will be located (for example, ability to gain admission as registered in house counsel).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active bar license or other lawful ability to practice law in the state or jurisdiction where the employee will be located (for example, ability to gain admission as registered in house counsel).
  • 7+ years of experience (with a minimum of 3 years’ law firm experience), preferably in an employment-related, international practice with a background in litigation.
  • Demonstrated experience advising clients regarding equal employment opportunity (discrimination, harassment, etc.); disability accommodation; employment terminations; employee discipline and counseling; leaves of absence; and wage & hour claims.
  • Broad legal experience including employment acquisitions.
  • Proactive, practical approach to legal guidance and risk assessment.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional environment.
  • Willingness to support global regions, including Europe, North America, and Asia.
  • High integrity and strong performance orientation.

This is an office-based position located in San Diego, CA and is expected to comply with the company’s onsite work policy.

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits

$139,200.00 - $208,800.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).
