Job summary

Chainalysis is seeking an Employment and Compliance Counsel to support our People team and stakeholders across global labor, employment, and compliance matters. You will advise on employee relations, governance, policies, investigations, and training, while liaising with external counsel and balancing risk with business objectives.

You should be a JD with 4-6 years at top-tier firms or in-house in SaaS/tech, and possess strong judgment and independent work style to thrive in a fast-paced

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate and 4-6 years of experience from a top-tier law firm and company in the SaaS, data services or technology industries
  • Member of a U.S. state bar in good standing
  • Expertise in U.S. and global employment law matters and an experience advising companies in a pragmatic and commercial manner
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, critical thinking skills, and judgment
  • Judgment to anticipate and mitigate risk, and to know when and how to escape issues
  • Proven ability to own tasks and work independently, as well as collaborate with others across the company
  • An independent, patient, and thoughtful demeanor while being adept at managing shifting priorities in a demanding, fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Provide advice on a broad spectrum of global employment law issues
  • Prepare and negotiate employment-related agreements
  • Support and manage internal investigations into misconduct and disputes
  • Develop workplace and compliance policies, processes, and guidance
  • Develop company-wide training on employment and compliance matters
  • Liaise with external counsel in the U.S. and other jurisdictions
  • Prioritize internal client satisfaction while promoting scalable processes
  • Collaborate with the Legal team and other teams on compliance policies
  • Understand Chainalysis' risk appetite and provide commercially astute decisions
  • Develop understanding of Chainalysis' products and business model

Job description

The Legal team at Chainalysis advises both internal and external stakeholders on the forefront of cryptocurrency and blockchain data analytics in a constantly evolving landscape. Our job is to ensure the company continues its rapid growth by employing sound and risk-based judgment to support operations around the company and influence a groundbreaking industry as it mutes and becomes more widely adopted.

As Employment and Compliance Counsel, you work within the Corporate Legal function to support our People team and other key stakeholders by advising the company on a broad array of global labor, employment, compliance, and other legal matters.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Provide advice on a broad spectrum of global employment law issues, including employee relations, performance management, disciplinary matters, grievances, equity, compensation, benefits, contingent workers, employee classification, and global mobility
  • Prepare and negotiate various employment-related agreements, including employment agreements and severance agreements
  • Support and manage internal investigations into employee misconduct, violations of laws or policies, and employee disputes and litigation
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and review of workplace and compliance policies, processes, and guidance
  • Develop company-wide training on various employment and compliance matters
  • Liaise with external counsel in the U.S. and other jurisdictions as required
  • Prioritize internal client satisfaction, while promoting scalable processes and procedures
  • Collaborate with other members of the Legal team and other teams with respect to the overall legal and compliance functions of the company, including ownership over employee compliance policies
  • Gain a solid understanding of Chainalysis' risk appetite and provide commercially astute, risk-appropriate decisions
  • Develop a strong understanding of Chainalysis' products, services and business model

We're looking for candidates who have:

  • A Juris Doctorate and 4-6 years of experience from a top-tier law firm and company in the SaaS, data services or technology industries
  • Member of a U.S. state bar in good standing
