Job summary

Chainalysis is seeking an Employment and Compliance Counsel to support the People team and the Corporate Legal function. You will advise on global labor, employment, and compliance issues, draft and negotiate agreements, and oversee internal investigations to protect the company as it grows in the SaaS and blockchain analytics space.

You’ll collaborate with internal stakeholders and external counsel across jurisdictions, develop policies, and train teams on employment matters while balancing

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate with 4–6 years at top-tier firm or company in SaaS/tech.
  • Active member of a U.S. state bar in good standing.
  • Strong experience in global employment law with pragmatic, commercial approach.
  • Excellent attention to detail and judgment.
  • Ability to own tasks and work independently, with cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advice on global employment law issues across the company.

  • Manage internal investigations into misconduct and disputes.
  • Develop and review workplace and compliance policies.

  • Collaborate with the Legal and People teams on compliance functions.
  • Learn Chainalysis risk appetite and provide risk-appropriate decisions.
  • Develop understanding of Chainalysis products and business model.

Job description

The Legal team at Chainalysis advises both internal and external stakeholders on the forefront of cryptocurrency and blockchain data analytics in a constantly evolving landscape. Our job is to ensure the company continues its rapid growth by employing sound and risk-based judgment to support operations around the company and influence a groundbreaking industry as it matures and becomes more widely adopted.

As Employment and Compliance Counsel, you work within the Corporate Legal function to support our People team and other key stakeholders by advising the company on a broad array of global labor, employment, compliance, and other legal matters.

In this role, you’ll:
  • Provide advice on a broad spectrum of global employment law issues, including employee relations, performance management, disciplinary matters, grievances, equity, compensation, benefits, contingent workers, employee classification, and global mobility
  • Prepare and negotiate various employment‑related agreements, including employment agreements and severance agreements
  • Support and manage internal investigations into employee misconduct, violations of laws or policies, and employee disputes and litigation
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and review of workplace and compliance policies, processes, and guidance
  • Develop company‑wide training on various employment and compliance matters
  • Liaise with external counsel in the U.S. and other jurisdictions as required
  • Prioritize internal client satisfaction, while promoting scalable processes and procedures
  • Collaborate with other members of the Legal team and other teams with respect to the overall legal and compliance functions of the company, including ownership over employee compliance policies
  • Gain a solid understanding of Chainalysis’ risk appetite and provide commercially astute, risk‑appropriate decisions
  • Develop a strong understanding of Chainalysis’ products, services and business model
We’re looking for candidates who have:
  • A Juris Doctorate and 4-6 years of experience from a top‑tier law firm and company in the SaaS, data services or technology industries
  • Member of a U.S. state bar in good standing
  • Expertise in U.S. and global employment law matters and an experience advising companies in a pragmatic and commercial manner
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, critical thinking skills, and judgment
  • Judgement to anticipate and mitigate risk, and to know when and how to elevate issues
  • Proven ability to own tasks and work independently, as well as collaborate with others across the company
  • An independent, patient, and thoughtful demeanor while being adept at managing shifting priorities in a demanding, fast‑paced environment
Nice to have experience:
  • Experience advising executives at high‑growth technology companies
  • Familiarity with or an interest in the cryptocurrency and blockchain industry
