Job summary

Collectors in Jersey City, NJ is seeking an Employee Relations Partner to join our People team. You’ll partner with the Director of Employee Relations to build and manage our employee relations program, developing policies, resolving complex issues, and guiding disciplinary processes to maintain a positive workplace.

This role requires 2–3+ years in employee relations, 3+ years in labor relations, strong knowledge of employment laws, and the ability to handle confidential information.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, business, or a related field is preferred.
  • 2–3+ years of experience in employee relations or HR frontline roles.
  • At least 3 years in a unionized or labor-relations environment.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate and manage complex employee relations issues and disputes.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for employee relations.
  • Provide guidance to managers on disciplinary and performance matters.
  • Conduct training for managers and employees on conflict resolution and harassment prevention.
  • Collaborate with HR partners, legal counsel, and stakeholders to ensure fair resolutions.
  • Maintain accurate records and analyze trends for policy improvements.
  • Conduct exit interviews and share insights with senior management.

You’ll partner with the Director of Employee Relations to build and manage our employee relations program. This includes establishing policies, managing and resolving complex employee relations issues, performance management and providing guidance on disciplinary processes. You’ll work closely with management and other People team members to ensure that employee issues are addressed promptly and effectively, and that the organization maintains a positive and productive work environment.You’ll report to the Director of Employee Relations and work on-site at our Jersey City, NJ headquarter office.What You’ll Do:Investigate and manage complex employee relations issues, including harassment, discrimination, policy violations, unethical or illegal conduct and workplace conflict.Develop and implement policies and procedures related to employee relations and ensure compliance with state and federal legal requirements.Provide guidance and support to managers and employees regarding employee relations matters.Conduct training for managers and employees on topics related to employee relations, such as conflict resolution, and harassment prevention.Collaborate with HR business partners, legal counsel, and other stakeholders to ensure consistent and fair resolution of employee relations issues.Maintain accurate records and documentation of employee relations cases.Analyze trends and identify areas for improvement in employee relations policies and practices.Conducts exit interviews, summarizes findings, and discusses trends and concerns with senior management.Support the development of an inclusive and positive workplace culture.Performs other related duties as assigned.Bring the Collectors Values to life by consistently championing integrity, respect, and teamwork throughout the organization.Who You Are:Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred not required)Minimum of 2-3+ years of experience in employee relations, HR frontline facing or a related fieldMinimum of 3 years working with a unionized or labor-relations environment, partnering on grievance or dispute resolution.Experience supporting Light Manufacturing and Corporate role teamsStrong knowledge of employment laws and regulations, particularly those related to discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skillsExcellent interpersonal, counseling, and influencing skills.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.Experience conducting workplace investigations and providing guidance to managers and employees.Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.HR certification (e.g., PHR, SPHR, Wicklander Certified or AWI Training) is preferred but not requiredExperience working in a large, complex and remote organization (preferred not required)Salary Range: The salary range for this position is $83,784 - $113,355.
