Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Employee Relations, you will provide guidance and advice on employee relations matters for staff employees at UCLA Health. You will review disciplinary and other employment-related documents/actions (FMLA, layoffs, work rules, etc.) and collaborate with department HR Reps and senior leadership to ensure proper HR procedures are followed.

You will be responsible for policy/contract administration, including interpretation, implementation, and management of policies and contracts. You will partner with the Office of Compliance and Privacy Services, Staff Diversity & Compliance, Title IX, Risk Management, Staff/Faculty Counseling, Audit, Campus HR, Local/General Counsel, UC Office of the President, and other UC campuses to ensure best practices and consistency.

As Employee Relations Manager, you will represent UCLA Health in work-groups and committees to foster successful partnerships across departments. You will orient management on policy and legal compliance, such as FMLA, corrective actions, layoffs, and performance appraisals. You will provide guidance, interpretation, and training on policies and protocols, and assist in investigations related to Title IX, sexual harassment, discrimination, whistleblower complaints, retaliation, and other workplace issues.

This is a hybrid remote position with 4 openings.

Salary range: $92,600 - $202,200 annually.

Qualifications
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in employment-related matters.
  • Knowledge of public sector laws and requirements; healthcare industry and higher education experience preferred; union environment experience is a plus.
  • Strong writing skills for concise, clear, and persuasive documents, including correspondence, case analyses, investigative reports, and settlement agreements.
  • Effective presentation skills for grievance meetings, training sessions, and panels.
  • Knowledge of employment laws such as FMLA/CFRA, Reasonable Accommodation, VAWA/CANRA, HIPAA, HEERA, FLSA, contract interpretation, EEOC, DFEH, and DOJ requirements.
  • Experience conducting investigations into harassment, discrimination, workplace behavior, and related allegations.
  • Ability to analyze and draft proposals for negotiations, settlements, and employment agreements.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with UCLA offices and UC campuses, including Title IX, Legal Affairs, Compliance, Insurance, and Risk Management.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent education and experience.
