Job summary

Samsung Electronics America, Inc. is seeking an experienced Employee Relations Lead to own labor relations, compliance, policy development, and stakeholder collaboration at our Newberry, South Carolina facility. The role onsite five days a week and leads a team in a 1,500+ employee operation.

You will partner with Legal, HRBP, and operations to shape ER policy, resolve complex workplace issues, and ensure adherence to federal and state labor laws while fostering a Culture of Mutual Respect.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial/Labor Relations, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Employee Relations, Labor Relations, or HRBP roles, ideally in manufacturing or corporate setting.
  • Deep understanding of U.S. labor and employment laws (e.g., Title VII, FLSA, FMLA, ADA) and HR best practices.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills with ability to handle highly confidential data.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and team-oriented attitude; proven supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Employee Relations Management: foster a transparent, cooperative workplace; develop and implement communication strategies; collaborate with regional HR leaders to establish Samsung US labor relations policy.
  • Compliance & Labor Relations: ensure HR policies and plant operations comply with federal/state laws; manage relationships with employee representatives if applicable.
  • Conflict Resolution & Investigations: oversee confidential investigations into workplace complaints and recommend corrective actions.
  • Policy Development: design, update, and localize ER policies aligning with Samsung’s global culture and U.S. standards.
  • Team Leadership: lead, mentor, and develop the ER team at the production site to meet HR and business goals.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: partner with Legal, HRBP, and operations management to address organizational challenges in a growing manufacturing environment.

Samsung Electronics Home Appliances America (SEHA) established the first home appliance manufacturing facility in the United States in 2017 in Newbery County, South Carolina. The company’s culture in Newberry emphasizes innovation and community engagement. SEHA has created an ecosystem supporting the full innovation lifecycle, from product concept and R&D to manufacturing, quality assurance, sales, distribution, and customer care. This approach not only enhances product development but also ensures a high standard of customer service.

We are seeking a capable and trusted Employee Relations Lead to own labor relations, compliance, policy development, and stakeholder collaboration for our 450,000 square feet facility in Newberry, South Carolina which operates advanced manufacturing lines with 20 presses and 30 injection molding machines and employees 1500+ employees. This role is onsite 5 days per week.

Job Summary

The ER Part Leader will lead the Employee Relations team at the Newberry, South Carolina manufacturing facility. You will be responsible for fostering a positive and mutually respectful workplace, ensuring compliance with U.S. labor laws Culture of Mutual Respect, and building strong trust between management and production employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Employee Relations Management: Cultivate a transparent and cooperative workplace environment. Develop and implement communication strategies that bridge gaps and resolve grievances in a timely manner. Research, benchmark, and identify semiconductor industry approaches towards organized labor and collaborate with regional HR leaders to establish a Samsung US labor relations policy and strategy.
  • Compliance & Labor Relations: Ensure all HR policies and plant operations strictly adhere to federal and state employment laws. Manage relationships and negotiations with employee representatives if applicable.
  • Conflict Resolution & Investigations: Oversee and conduct confidential investigations into workplace complaints, including misconduct, discrimination, and policy violations. Recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Policy Development: Design, update, and localize ER policies and procedures in alignment with both Samsung’s global culture and U.S. labor standards.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the ER team members at the production site to achieve HR and business objectives.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner closely with Legal, HR Business Partners (HRBP), and operations management to address organizational challenges and support a rapidly growing manufacturing environment.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial/Labor Relations, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in Employee Relations, Labor Relations, or HRBP roles, ideally within a manufacturing or corporate setting.
  • Leadership: Proven supervisory or team management experience, with the ability to build consensus and guide teams through change.
  • Legal Knowledge: Deep understanding of U.S. labor and employment laws (e.g., Title VII, FLSA, FMLA, ADA) and HR best practices.
  • Skills: Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. Strong ability to handle highly sensitive data with absolute confidentiality. Strong problem-solving skills, strong organizational skills, and cooperative, flexible, team-oriented attitude.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
