DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTION

Under the direct supervision of the Director, and in compliance with all applicable departmental and hospital policies, procedures, standards, and regulatory requirements, prepares medications and other pharmaceuticals for dispensing to patients of the Medical Center, its clinics, and all eligible employees. Performs responsibilities that do not require a registered pharmacist, including delivery of discharge medications to bedside or clinic.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:

1 to 2 years of Retail/Hospital Pharmacy Technician experience required.

Education and Training:

High School diploma or equivalent required.
Technician training program preferred, with ongoing National Certification as a Pharmacy Technician in process.
Must be fully trained and proficient in all Pharmacy Technician functions, demonstrated through competency certification and departmental approval.

License, Certification & Registration:

Pharmacy Technician or Trainee - Registered Pharmacy Technician or trainee. Trainees must pass boards after 500 to 1500 hours or within one year.

Other Requirements:

Ability to work independently with limited supervision, under the supervision of the Employee Pharmacy Supervisor.
