Job summary

Mead Lumber's Ace Hardware East of Rapid City is seeking a Hardware Sales Associate to help customers choose hardware, tools, materials and related products for home improvement needs. You will provide knowledgeable, friendly service, locate merchandise, and help customers find practical solutions for their projects.

The role includes stocking and organizing merchandise, maintaining displays, monitoring inventory, pricing products, and supporting daily store operations.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of retail products and product categories; knowledge of hardware, lawn and garden, and paint products preferred.
• Ability to listen to customers, understand their needs, and recommend appropriate products and solutions.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to operate a register, computer, calculator, and other basic retail equipment.
• Ability to work efficiently, promptly, and accurately while managing multiple tasks.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness and ability to learn about products and their applications.
• Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers in locating products and provide information about available products, services, and solutions.
• Help customers select hardware, lawn and garden, paint, and related products based on their project needs.
• Generate sales by providing knowledgeable product recommendations and exceptional customer service.
• Answer customer questions and assist with product selection, availability, pricing, and basic product use.
• Stock, price, organize, and maintain merchandise throughout the store.
• Create and maintain attractive, organized product displays and merchandising areas.
• Order products and assist with maintaining accurate inventory levels.
• Monitor merchandise to ensure products are properly stocked, labeled, and priced.
• Operate the register and accurately process customer transactions as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and welcoming sales environment.
• Assist with other store duties and customer needs as assigned.
