Job summary

ISG in Bloomington, MN is seeking a Telecommunications Aerial Designer to join our Telecommunications + Utility Business Unit. You will engineer pole attachments, make-ready designs, and ensure compliance with NESC on joint-use routes, delivering construction-ready CAD/GIS packages and supporting implementation with field teams.

This role requires strong attention to detail, experience with aerial OSP concepts, and the ability to travel for data collection.

Qualifications

• Understand NESC clearance and loading for communications attachments.
• Design aerial OSP with joint-use, make-ready, and pole loading.
• Read and produce OSP construction prints and pole details.
• Proficient with CAD/GIS and pole loading software.
• Ability to travel for field data collection.

Responsibilities

• Produce aerial fiber design and pole loading deliverables per NESC rules.
• Perform make-ready engineering and identify pole issues.
• Develop and review pole attachment applications.
• Run sag and tension analyses and verify clearances.
• Interpret field survey data and incorporate terrain into clearance.
• Prepare construction-ready drawings and route prints.
• Coordinate with utility joints, permitting agencies, and crews.
• Support quality control and maintain documentation.
• Travel to perform field data collection as needed.
