Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) seeks an Employee in Charge to oversee on-track safety for freight railroads, transit systems, and state DOTs. The role focuses on coordinating train movements and maintaining strict safety protocols across active rights-of-way.

The EIC will conduct daily field reports, briefings, and safety briefings, while ensuring compliance with Railroad, State, and Federal policies. Willingness to travel extensively is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide On-Track Safety such as set up of derails, track signs, and other safety tools.
• Prepare daily field reports and report on any rule violations.
• Provide job-site coordination.
• Radio contact with Dispatchers and Train Crews to communicate worksite safety status.
• Conduct mandatory clear, concise, and thorough job briefings with all crew members before they enter the track.
• Enforce all Railroad, State, and Federal Policies.

Job Description

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) is seeking an Employee in Charge (EIC) to provide essential on-track safety services for freight railroads, transit systems, state DOTs, and rail industry partners.

Job Requirements

• Requires proficiency in the use of tablets, smartphones, and communication tools to support coordination of train movements.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to travel for extended periods of time; sometimes months at a time.
• Valid Driver's License
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a railroad company preferably in the maintenance of way department
• Ability to successfully complete Federal, Client, and/or Company Specific Training.
