Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) seeks an Employee in Charge (EIC) in Amarillo, TX to deliver on-track safety services for freight railroads and other partners. This role focuses on coordinating safe work on rights-of-way and ensuring compliance with railroad policies.

You will set up safety tools, report daily field observations, and communicate with dispatchers. Travel will be extensive (50–85%).

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a railroad company, preferably in maintenance of way.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Proficiency with tablets, smartphones, and communication tools to coordinate train movements.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to travel for extended periods, sometimes months.
• Ability to complete Federal, Client, and Company training.

Responsibilities

• Provide On-Track Safety, including setup of derails, track signs, and safety tools.
• Prepare daily field reports and report rule violations.
• Provide job-site coordination.
• Radio contact with Dispatchers and Train Crews to communicate worksite safety status.
• Conduct mandatory briefings with all crew members before they enter the track.
• Enforce all Railroad, State, and Federal Policies.

Job Description:

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) is seeking an Employee in Charge (EIC) to provide essential on-track safety services for freight railroads, transit systems, state DOTs, and rail industry partners.

Job Requirements

• Requires proficiency in the use of tablets, smartphones, and communication tools to support coordination of train movements.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to travel for extended periods of time; sometimes months at a time.
• Valid Driver's License
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a railroad company preferably in the maintenance of way department
• Ability to successfully complete Federal, Client, and/or Company Specific Training.

Job Duties

Work Environment

This job operates in a field environment working alongside active tracks. Travel is expected from 50% to 85% of the time.
