Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) seeks an Employee in Charge to provide essential on-track safety services in New Orleans, LA for freight railroads, transit systems, state DOTs, and rail partners.

The EIC will lead safety operations, set up derails and signs, prepare daily reports, coordinate job-site activities, and maintain radio contact with Dispatchers and Train Crews while enforcing all Railroad, State and Federal policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years' railroad experience (Maintenance of Way preferred).
• Valid driver's license.
• Proficiency with tablets, smartphones, and comms tools.
• Willingness to travel 50%–85%.
• Ability to complete mandatory training.

Responsibilities

• Provide On-Track Safety setup (derails, signs, and safety tools).
• Prepare daily field reports and report on any rule violations.
• Provide job-site coordination.
• Radio contact with Dispatchers and Train Crews to communicate worksite safety status.
• Conduct mandatory clear, concise, and thorough job briefings with all crew members before they enter the track.
• Enforce all Railroad, State, and Federal Policies.

Job Description

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) is seeking an Employee in Charge (EIC) to provide essential on-track safety services for freight railroads, transit systems, state DOTs, and rail industry partners.

Job Requirements

• Requires proficiency in the use of tablets, smartphones, and communication tools to support coordination of train movements.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to travel for extended periods of time; sometimes months at a time.
• Valid Driver's License
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a railroad company preferably in the maintenance of way department
• Ability to successfully complete Federal, Client, and/or Company Specific Training.
