Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) seeks an Employee in Charge (EIC) to deliver essential on-track safety services for freight railroads, transit systems, and state DOTs.

This field-based role requires coordinating train movements using tablets and mobile devices, with frequent travel and strict adherence to safety policies. The EIC will set up safety equipment, prepare field reports, and supervise crew briefings, while maintaining clear radio communication with Dispatchers and Train

Qualifications

• Proficient with tablets, smartphones, and communication tools to coordinate train movements.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities are essential.
• Willingness to travel extensively, sometimes for months at a time.
• Must have a valid Driver's License and a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a railroad company, preferably in maintenance of way.
• Ability to complete Federal, Client, and/or Company-Specific Training successfully.

Responsibilities

• Provide On-Track Safety: setup of derails, track signs, and safety tools.
• Prepare daily field reports and report any rule violations.
• Provide job-site coordination and radio contact with Dispatchers and Train Crews.
• Conduct mandatory, clear, and thorough job briefings with all crew members before entry to track.
• Enforce all Railroad, State, and Federal Policies.

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) is seeking an Employee in Charge (EIC) to provide essential on-track safety services for freight railroads, transit systems, state DOTs, and rail industry partners.

Job Requirements

• Requires proficiency in the use of tablets, smartphones, and communication tools to support coordination of train movements.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to travel for extended periods of time; sometimes months at a time.
• Valid Driver's License
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a railroad company preferably in the maintenance of way department
• Ability to successfully complete Federal, Client, and/or Company Specific Training.

Work Environment

This job operates in a field environment working alongside active tracks. Travel is expected from 50% to 85% of the time.
